SeoPress
Oktober 11, 2010 in Plugins, SEO
SeoPress is a replacement for “Seo for Buddypress”, because the old name wasn’t correct anymore.
SeoPress is professional search engine optimization for:
- WordPress
- WordPress MU (MultiSite)
- Buddypress
SeoPress recognises your type of WordPress installation automatically and offers you all SEO options you might need, e.g. for the activated Buddypress components.
Functionality:
- Create individual title, description, keywords for all parts of your site, posts, pages and plugins
- Use special tags for fine-tuning and automatic creation of title, description and keywords
- Keyword generator, generate your keywords from the post content fully automated
- No-index for posts, pages and all parts of your site configurable
- Set title and description length, and display a textcounter for easy control of your meta data
- No lose of individual page settings (Metas&Title) if used “All in One Seo” and “WPSeo” before
- 100% WordPress MU (Multisite) compatible
How the plugin works:
It recognises your WordPress version and displays the Seo options depending on the system you use.
If Buddypress is installed, it offers you all Seo options for the activated Buddypress components.
To fine-tune your title and description, you can use special tags, see the screenshots.
In the option pages, you control all global Seo behaviours, from the WordPress site, the multi-sites or Buddypress components.
For Buddypress, there is also a section for plugins which extend Buddypress.
Meta box:
In the posts and pages you have a meta box, to fill in individual title and meta-description.
This will also work on multi-sites!

== Installation ==
1. Upload ‘SeoPress’ to the ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory
2. a) If you use standard WordPress installation:
Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
2. b) If you use Multiuser installation:
Activate the plugin “sidewide” through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
3. If you use Buddypress:
Be sure that the main Blog header template uses bp_page_title() instead of wp_title() function.
That’s it, have fun.
Plugin is updatefriendly, all needed migration from older versions, will be done on activation.

SEO Press is not saving my information.
Some more informations please.
thx. jquery woes are indeed fixed :-)
Just found a rather annoying problem: it seems your plugin simply loads jquery scripts without checking first if they are not already loaded, resulting in them being loaded twice and breaking some functionality. Please check this for me, will you?
new version will check it ;-), coming tonight.
thx. as I said I am new to BP and using unfamiliar plugins which means I have to activate one by one and check what breaks :-( getting this double jquery loading fixed will probably (and hopefully) fix some of my problems :-)
Hi Ovidiu,
it took a bit longer, needed much more time as I thought…
http://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/looking-for-some-help-with-jquery-im-really-getting-lost-with-this/
Version 1.0.4 is out now and will fix all jquery conflicts.
Thanks ;-)
oh and if you are looking for more inspiration, check out headspace2 :-)
I especially like the option that you can specify i.e. that from all pages the links to category archives are no-follow … quite an interesting option. works the other way round too, i.e. no-follow page links from single posts… just an example.
Thx.
I am working on my very first BP site so I tested your plugin. I have enough experience with WP and wpmu and a lot of other SEo plugins. Just giving yours a try in case it covers BP parts that others don’t. I can certainly give you my findings here :-)
- while using your plugin, there should be a legend explaining all available fields like: %%sitename%% (ideally only showing the ones that do apply for that certain config page (at least the directory part doesn’t have this)(scratch this, I found: …/wp-admin/admin.php?page=seomenue#cap_specialtags)
- after saving, I see tons of yellow boxes. I have not changed all of them, either only show the saved ones or show all but fade them away after i.e. 10 sec.
- I think none of the defaults that your plugin shipped with were active until I actually saved the options for the first time, right?
- whats %%fullname%%? is that the user name field that comes with BP and can’t be removed?
- maybe add no-follow? I see you offer no-index, maybe some people might want to chose between the two?
Ok, thats all from my first glance :-)
Hi Ovidiu, thanks for your feedback.
The plugin is in active development.
In the next weeks there will be a lot of improvements.
A new version will come nearly every weak.
- You are right, I will offer a dynamic template tag help for every part.
- It’s important to save all options once, for the plugin to work. I will change the yellow boxes. Just print one box, or fade it away after 10 seconds.
- Yes, the plugin is active after saving it the first time.
I will make an alert on activation, that let’s people know they need to save the plugin once to work.
%%displayname%% Replaced with the displayed name of the user
%%fullname%% Replaced with the full name of the user
- no-follow? will be added in the next version.
Thanks a lot for all this feedback.
I will add the changes in the next version.
Next version will come in the beginning of next week.
Sven

Just curios if there is a feature comparison somewhere between the standard and the PRO version?
